Teen films are movies aimed at teenagers and young people where nowadays children as young as 6 can watch these movies with adult supervision. The sub genres include Rom-Coms like A Cinderella Story and The Princess Diaries, Sci-Fi / Adventure such as Percy Jackson and The Hunger Games, Thriller / Horror such as Scream (the sequel) and I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Musicals like Grease and High School Musical.

Other sub genres and themes include fantasy, realist, action and regional where there are american high school themed movies and british films etc.
