John Bender (Judd Nelson) is the criminal, the rebel, the punk, the bad boy. He casually just walked in front of a car and was not even scared. Portraying that he is tough and strong therefore he can do anything risky.
Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy) is the basket case, the loner, the weirdo. In the opening she went to sit at the back of the class portraying that she is a shy girl and didn't want to get involved with the rest.

The rich boy can drive this car who can possibly be the jock. The popular boy that every girl wants. This will show that he is rich and good looking too so he drives a nice car because his family is financially stable.
The new girl/ new boy can arrive to school with this on the first day to show they are new to the county .
The poor characters , the normal regular girls or boys, the geek can take the bus which is another mode of transport for the teens that can't afford riding in a car because of their family financial situation.
